Mobile showroom opens doors to building solutions

Assa Abloy recently brought its mobile showroom to campus, providing an up-close look at its products to students in architecture, construction management and building construction majors.
Each day, billions of people use the company’s technology when they walk through automatic doors, stay in a hotel or go through passport control. Assa Abloy’s products include locks, keys, security doors and automated entrances, as well as higher technology solutions that include biometrics and mobile security.
“They learned about door openings and the products for access solutions in homes, businesses, and institutions,” said Jody Abernethy, an end user specialist for the firm. “Assa Abloy is committed to educate everyone about life safety, security and sustainability.”
"Having the Assa Abloy showroom on campus gave our students an incredible opportunity to see the company’s materials in person, speak with its specialists, and learn more about the specification process throughout design and construction,” said Ellyn A. Lester, assistant dean of construction and architectural technologies. “We are looking forward to continuing this relationship and to bringing examples of their products into our new Materials Library, which is part of the EDA-grant funded expansion of the Building Technologies Center."
