Service set for former Penn College Board director

Funeral services will be held March 18 for Thomas W. Dempsey Sr., a former member of the Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors, who died Thursday, March 7, at the age of 93.


 

Dempsey served as a member of the state House of Representatives, R-83rd District, from November 1987 until his retirement at the end of 2000. He delivered Penn College’s May 2000 Commencement address and concluded his service on the Penn College Board when he retired from his House seat. 

Dempsey was among legislators supporting Williamsport Area Community College’s affiliation with Penn State, culminating in the 1989 creation of Pennsylvania College of Technology.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Dempsey's life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Road, Williamsport, with burial in Wildwood Cemetery. A full obituary is available on the funeral home’s website.
