Two Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. employees visited classes recently in architecture and heating, ventilation & air conditioning engineering technology to introduce students to career paths with the company’s virtual design & construction operations group.

That team constructs buildings virtually before they are built physically, explained 2011 construction management alumnus Sean Scully, who is a project manager for Whiting-Turner, and Brandon Hurlburt, a VDC manager for the company.

The company’s VDC Group provides many services including: preconstruction and pursuit management, construction and operational management, and services rendered, which each allow WT to excel as a leader in the industry.

Whiting-Turner is a Maryland-born construction management firm with 50-plus brick-and-mortar locations throughout the country. Whiting-Turner has hired graduates from Penn College for over two decades and is looking to branch into more of the college to recruit future leaders from other varying majors within the construction industry.
