Wintertime, and the livin' is easy ... as in speak-easy!

Students were welcome to grab a cup of play money, and a bubble-gum cigar or candy cigarette, in the Thompson Professional Development Center's den of make-believe vice. The money could be used to play such casino games as Texas hold 'em, roulette and craps.

Goodies included feather boas (which, by night's end, adorned much of the floor), flapper headbands and pearls.

All eyes are on Nathan J. Ferrebee (in white shirt), of Pine Grove – a network administration & engineering technology student by day – as he explains poker rules, intricacies and subtleties for newer players at the table.

WEB Chair Sophia G. Wiest helps conduct a basket raffle, in which players could parlay $5,000 in casino winnings into a potentially winning ticket. Wiest, who holds a bachelor's in entrepreneurial innovation, is pursuing an associate degree in landscape/plant production technology.
