"Stretching for Injury Prevention"Stretching for Injury Prevention
Tuesday, April 6; noon-1 p.m.
Whether you’re a high school athlete or a weekend warrior, stretching is a must. A few routine stretches are all it takes to prevent injury and keep you going strong. In this session, you’ll get pro tips from Victoria Hurwitz, director of the physical therapist assistant program at Penn College, and Jordan G. Williams, the Wildcat men’s lacrosse head coach. When you’re active, injuries can easily occur. But they can be prevented; we’ll show you how! You’ll also get a chance to check out the impressive lab space at Penn College, meet faculty and student athletes, and learn a little bit about the two-year physical therapist assistant program.

"The Future of Plastics"The Future of Plastics

When we think of plastic, bottles and bags usually come to mind. But this fascinating and diverse field stretches far beyond the everyday products we know and use. Join Joshua J. Rice, instructor of plastics technology, and superstar student Olivia C. Ferki to learn about lesser-known, but vital applications in such industries as health care and electronics. The duo will also discuss recycling, address common misconceptions about plastics, and explain how plastics and polymer technologies are part of the green movement. You’ll also get a glimpse of the world-class labs on the Penn College campus and see a live demo with state-of-the-art injection molding equipment. This workshop is a must whether you’re considering a career in this innovative field or want to be more informed about the future of plastics and polymers.

"Transplanting Troubles"Transplanting Troubles
Thursday, April 22; 6-7 p.m.
Spring gardening season is finally here. We hope you’re as excited as we are! Join us for a follow-up workshop that builds on everything you learned in the mid-March "Seeding for Success" session. Missed that one? No problem. You’ll still get lots of pro tips from this info-packed event. (Or you can catch up on Microsoft Teams beforehand; just click the "Watch Recording" link.) This time, we’ll focus on the transplanting process. There’s a lot to think about when preparing those seedlings and successfully moving them into their final spot in your garden. We’ll run down some common mistakes and offer expert advice so you can get it right the first time around. You’ll also learn lots of other planting tips like how to lay out your garden and make the most of your space.
