AED Foundation reaccredits two heavy equipment majors

Two associate-degree majors within the heavy construction equipment technology program at Pennsylvania College of Technology have been reaccredited by The AED Foundation.
Accredited for five more years are heavy construction equipment technology: Caterpillar equipment emphasis and heavy construction equipment technology: technician emphasis, two-year majors offered at Penn College’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center south of main campus.
“We are pleased that you have chosen to demonstrate your commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement through the process of accreditation,” AED Foundation Chairman Whit Perryman said.
The foundation addresses education and workforce development initiatives of Associated Equipment Distributors, a century-old international trade association representing companies involved in the distribution, rental and support of equipment used in construction, mining, energy, forestry, power generation, agriculture and industrial applications.
“We are very proud of our AED Foundation-accredited programs at Penn College, and I want to thank our team for the hard work they put in to ensure we achieved reaccreditation,” said Brett A. Reasner, dean of transportation and natural resources technologies at Penn College and a member of the foundation board. “AED Foundation accreditation is the gold standard in the heavy equipment industry and, most importantly, gives our graduating students a leg up when they enter the workforce.”
Reaccreditation signifies to equipment industry stakeholders that Penn College met the AED Foundation’s rigorous national construction equipment technical standards. It further signifies to current and prospective students that Penn College’s programs provide the best in diesel-equipment technical education as defined by the industry it serves.
Established in 1991, the AED Foundation is dedicated to developing and improving construction equipment industry partnerships that meet the mutual needs of local dealers, manufacturers and technical colleges.
