Encouraging a budding scientist is Mary Ann A. Banks, a part-time member of the college's chemistry faculty.A Bush Campus Center lab was home to the sculpture station, overseen by Deborah L. Stabley, adjunct faculty in photography.Carpentry space in the Carl Building Technologies Center is the site for sessions in woodworking with Peter Kruppenbacher, assistant professor of building construction technology.Keith M. Whitesel, instructor of electrical technology/occupations, connects with a visitor to his laboratory.About 125 Boy Scouts attended Saturday's 2016 Susquehanna Council STEM Merit Badge College on main campus, earning up to two merit badges under the supervision of nearly two-dozen Penn College faculty members. Organized by Brian D. Walton, assistant dean of business and hospitality, and Thomas C. Heffner, assistant dean of sciences, humanities and visual communications: programs, the daylong event showcased the college's phenomenal hands-on facilities and the knowledgeable mentors who work within them. Local Scouts were joined by their counterparts from Pittsburgh, Johnstown, Scranton and Philadelphia.
