The Gallery at Penn College

Fine art by Danny Smith, a 2015 graduate of Williamsport Area High School, is on display in the lobby of The Gallery at Penn College through June 26.



Danny Smith, a 2015 graduate of Williamsport Area High School, stands in the lobby of The Gallery at Penn College where his artwork is on display through June 26. Smith received an Artistic Excellence Award from the gallery.Smith received an Artistic Excellence Award from the gallery. The honor is given to a student who demonstrates skill in his or her selected medium and knowledge of the artistic process. The award includes a gift certificate to The College Store and an opportunity to exhibit artwork in the gallery lobby.

Smith’s display includes paintings, sculpture and work on paper. The student exhibit coincides with an exhibition of bronze sculpture and drawings by Ed Smith, a Guggenheim Fellow and professor of art at Marist College.

He has been accepted at The Cooper Union’s School of Art, in New York City, and will start there in the fall.

Located on the third floor of Madigan Library, The Gallery at Penn College offers summer hours Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays, 1 to 4 p.m. (closed Mondays and Saturdays).

This piece is among the displayed work by the award-winning artist.In addition to serving as an educational resource for Penn College students and a cultural asset to the college and community, the gallery is dedicated to promoting art appreciation through exhibitions of contemporary art.
