Campus Welcomes PFEW for Seventh Summer

Beginning the 2014 installment of Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week, the seventh consecutive year that Penn College has co-hosted the event with Lycoming College, roughly 400 young men and women arrived on campus with their parents Sunday morning. After check-in, PFEW families enjoyed a School of Business & Hospitality-catered lunch in the Keystone Dining Room and tours with admissions staff and student ambassadors. The juniors and seniors then filled the Klump Academic Center Auditorium for an opening session at 1 p.m., including a welcome from Carolyn R. Strickland, the college's vice president for enrollment management/associate provost. She noted that the guests will have an exciting taste of what college students experience - from campus dining and residence halls to the Fitness Center, Madigan Library and The Gallery at Penn College. She also mentioned (to considerable applause) that $2,000 scholarships, renewable annually for up to four years, are awarded to PFEW participants who enroll at the college. In addition to emulating real-life executives by making imaginary business decisions throughout the week, the students will learn more about Penn College on Wednesday, thanks to an admissions presentation and campuswide scavenger hunt.
