Debbie A. Day, an instructional specialist for Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology, received the Educator of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Practical Nursing Administrators at its spring meeting in Lewisburg.

The award recognizes an outstanding practical nursing educator within the PAPNA community and the educator’s commitment to excellence and innovation.

A former student in the North Campus Outreach Practical Nursing Program nominated Day for her educational approaches that support and inspire practical nursing students in the delivery of patient care.

As a student of the college, she completed a certificate in practical nursing and an associate degree in nursing. She also holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in nursing.

“Debbie is highly qualified, highly committed to the practice of nursing and is an excellent role model for nursing students,” said Natalie O. DeLeonardis, coordinator of the North Campus Outreach Practical Nursing Program.

According to the student’s nomination letter, Day is “extremely knowledgeable in the field of nursing and loves to teach her passion for nursing. She teaches from her heart with great compassion for others.”
