Horticulture Faculty Member Appointed as Foundation Trustee

A horticulture instructor at Pennsylvania College of Technology has been named to the Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association Foundation Board of Trustees.

Carl J. Bower Jr., who also serves on the PLNA Board of Directors, will begin his three-year trustee term on Jan. 1. Based in Harrisburg, the charitable foundation provides resources to encourage research, reward scholarship, and promote the values and benefits of ornamental horticulture.

Carl J. Bower Jr.Bower is a 1993 landscape/nursery technology graduate of Penn College and holds Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist designation from the state association. He joined the college as an adjunct faculty member in 2001 and, in 2006, became a full-time instructor in the School of Natural Resources Management.

Founded in 1904, PLNA is the leading trade association representing Pennsylvania's $5.6 billion green industry. Its 750 members include production nurseries, garden centers, landscape designers, landscape maintenance firms, arborists, interiorscape firms, florists and other private-sector companies in the Northeast's leading horticultural state.
