Golf, Women's Soccer Teams Lead Successful Wildcat Week

Golf
On Monday, the Wildcats opened with a win on their home course at the White Deer Golf Complex over four other conference foes, edging defending Penn State University Athletic Conference champ Penn State Mont Alto, 315-318. Individually for Penn College, Alex Howe (Lake Ariel), Eric Schall (Jersey Shore) and Chad Vuocolo (Lock Haven) tied for third place, each shooting 78.

Men's Soccer
On Wednesday, Penn College suffered a 3-2 season-opening loss at Penn State Abington. Scoring goals for the Wildcats were Chris Brennan (New Hope) and Tristan Smith (Bermuda). It marked the first time Penn College has lost to Abington in five years. Saturday's match at Penn State York was postponed.

Women's Soccer
After its scheduled opener Wednesday was canceled, the women's squad defeated Davis College, 10-0, on Saturday. Kimberly Daley (Springfield Center, N.Y.) scored four goals, while Jocelyn Moyer (Tower City­) had a hat trick and an assist and Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) scored twice. As a team, the Wildcats totaled 52 shots to Davis' four. Goalkeeper Amanda Reedy (Burnham Valley) had four saves.

Cross-Country
On Saturday at Doylestown, the men finished 10th at the Delaware Valley College Invitational. Jake Shedden (Canton) led the way for Penn College with an eighth-place finish in 27:46.41 over the 5,000-meter course. Other Wildcats in the top 100 of a 208-runner field were Travis Cain (Bloomsburg), 78th, and Corvin Oberholtzer (Wellsboro), 95th. For the women, Tamara Pavlov (Lewisburg) was the top finisher at 54, with a time of 27:02.98. Shannon Abercrombie (Roaring Branch) ended No. 85 in a field of 195.

Women's Volleyball
The Wildcats improved to 3-2 on the season with wins over Penn State Abington, 25-5, 25-5, 25-9, and Rutgers-Newark, 27-25, 25-21, 25-15, on Saturday. Tara Powell (Burgettstown) had eight kills against Abington and nine against Rutgers-Newark. Lyndsey Smith (Mechanicsburg) had 15 assists against Abington and 22 against Rutgers-Newark.

ON THE HORIZON
Penn College faces crosstown rival Lycoming College twice this week. On Tuesday, the women's volleyball team is at Lyco at 7 p.m. and, on Saturday, the women's soccer team is there at 4:30 p.m.
