North Campus to Offer Basic Computer Classes

Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro is offering several easy-to-learn computer classes beginning this month.

The classes are taught by qualified instructors at a comfortable pace for all levels of adult learners. The small, noncredit classes are held in a relaxed, computer-lab environment allowing students to learn, experiment and ask questions throughout the evening.

For those new to computers, Basic Keyboarding Skills will help participants become more comfortable with computers and master basic typing skills in order to e-mail and write letters quickly. The class will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 7-30.

Computer Camp for Seniors is a fun class that introduces the computer for enjoyment purposes. This is a beginner course; you do not have to be a senior to attend. Come and explore games, e-mailing, the Internet and basic word-processing for letter-writing. The class will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, May 12 and 19.

Basic Microsoft Excel 2007 is helpful for those wanting to learn to create worksheets and manage and analyze data using formulas. It is also useful for making charts. The class will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, April 7 and 14. Intermediate Microsoft Excel 2007 will follow on Tuesday evenings, April 21 and 28, with Advanced Microsoft Excel 2007 to be offered Tuesday evenings, May 5 and 12. The classes will help participants develop advanced worksheets and charts, customize their work, and gain the ability to exchange data with other programs. Participants can learn how to make Excel work for them in all three levels of this amazing program.

For those wanting to establish a database for mailings, Basic Microsoft Access 2007 will assist in compiling forms and reports and in using queries for data collection. This class will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, March 19 and 26.

Introduction to QuickBooks will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, April 30 to May 14. QuickBooks is the No. 1 accounting software for individuals and businesses with bookkeeping needs. Participants quickly learn to create and track accounts, generate invoices and process payments. It is helpful to have some computer experience prior to taking this course.
