Penn College Helps Replenish Area's Low Blood Supply

Published 08.29.2007

The American Red Cross and Student Health Services were "very proud of the Penn College community"for the response at Wednesday's Bloodmobile in the Bush Campus Center, where 177 pints were collected exceeding the 130-pint goal. There were 63 first-time donors, and every pint goes toward saving another life. This drive certainly will help during this time of low blood supplies across the region. "Wednesday's Bloodmobile went very well," said Carl L. Shaner, Student Health Center director, "and the compassion of the Penn College campus showed through." The winners of the gift cards sponsored by Student Health Services will be announced after Labor Day; winners of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees tickets and gas cards will be announced by the Red Cross at the end of August. The Red Cross and Student Health Services thank all students, staff and faculty who participated as a donor or volunteer; special thanks to Food Services for providing pizzas. The next Bloodmobile is scheduled from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 24 in the CC.
