College Places Second in Heavy Equipment Rodeo

The traditional Visitation Day activity, at which students perform a number of maneuvers testing their skill on a variety of construction equipment, was won by Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology, Pleasant Gap. Cayuga Onondaga BOCES, Olean, N.Y., placed third overall.

Other teams were from Hewes Educational Center, Ashville, N.Y.; Mike Brewer BOCES, Bath, N.Y.; We-Mo-Co Occupational Technical Center, Spencerport, N.Y.; Lancaster County Career and Technology Center; and Berks (County) Career and Technology Center.

Richard R, Breen Jr., a technology management major from Middletown, R.I., placed first in the "Backhoe Egg" contest and third in the "Wheel Loader" category; Jacob N. Parvin, of Brackney, finished second in the "Backhoe Softball" competition; Chad E. Cairns, of Ligonier, placed third in the "Skid Steer" contest; and Owen C. Bucher, of Harleysville, finished third in the "Wheel Loader" event.

Parvin, Cairns and Bucher all are majoring in heavy equipment technology-operator in Penn College's School of Natural Resources Management.
