Aviation Student Awarded Scholarship From Helicopter Association

An aviation maintenance technology major at Pennsylvania College of Technology is one of only two students chosen worldwide to receive an Aircraft Maintenance Technician Scholarship from Helicopter Association International.
Wesley C. Miller, of Reading, a junior in the college's School of Transportation Technology, will receive $2,500 toward his pursuit of aircraft maintenance technician training and certification.
He was employed this past summer as an intern at Sterling Helicopter in Philadelphia and attended the 2007 Heli-Expo in Orlando, Fla., with Joshua W. Poole, of Thurmont, Md., a fellow student in the bachelor-degree major. Miller is the second consecutive Penn College student to be honored by HAI: Jason M. Smith, of Hillsgrove, who graduated in May, received a scholarship last year and was awarded a tuition waiver (worth $3,200) for the Eurocopter AS350 factory school.
In addition to his scholarship, Miller was one of three aviation maintenance technology majors who attended the 30th Federal Aviation Administration Eastern Region Airports Conference this month at The Pennsylvania State University. He joined senior Brian F. Popeck, of Randolph, N.J., and junior Gregory B. Gilliland, of Franklin, at seminars on such topics as FAA regulations, aerodynamics, airport management, engineering, safety and finance.
