Megan L. Kime Selected as 'Student of the Month'
Megan L. Kime of Gardners, a junior in the graphic communications management major, has been chosen by the Student Government Association as October's "Student of the Month."
Characterized as a "bright, enthusiastic, motivated young woman,"Kime has served as president and is current secretary of the Gamma Epsilon Tau graphic-arts fraternity.
Besides carrying a 3.8 grade-point average, she works in Penn College 's Tutoring Center and volunteered for a screen-printing program during Parent and Family Weekend.
Her faculty nominator noted her involvement in providing printed products for a number of student organizations, as well as business cards for faculty and staff.
"She has demonstrated a strong desire to learn," the faculty member wrote. "Her work shows evidence of planning, organization and commitment to high quality. She is looked up to by her peers, who regularly come to her for assistance which she always provides."
Her label design for an Apple Blossom Festival near her home recently won first place in a national printing contest.
"She is an outstanding representative of Penn College and will be very successful in whatever she chooses to do after graduation," her nominator said.
Kime also is involved with Campus Crusade for Christ and is a life member of the Girl Scouts.
SGA regularly selects a "Student of the Month" based on commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement. The next round of nominations is due Nov. 11.
