As a young Marine, Howard was influenced by the great musical concerts he attended while at Camp Pendleton. It was during this time that he saw James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and more. Howard continued to play guitar and sing while enlisted, and cites James Taylor as a major influence.
