Three loosely formed teams did battle during Greek Color Wars, held Tuesday evening on the lawn outside the Thompson Professional Development Center. Tossing sponges soaked in washable children's paint (bought by the gallon and diluted with water), the teams red, blue and green vied for superiority in a contest that ultimately was won by all.

Three groups of faculty/staff volunteers conducted a "Walk Around" of off-campus neighborhoods surrounding Penn College on Tuesday evening introducing themselves to tenants, welcoming new and returning students to the fall semester, distributing information about apartment living and an upcoming Block Party, and answering any questions.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus is offering classes for a medical billing and coding specialist certificate. The part-time certificate curriculum is approved by the National Healthcareer Association, which certifies the competency of newly trained professionals in allied health.

During an intramural picnic at Tuesday's "Hot Dog You're Here" event, the staff/faculty volleyball team once again claimed victory at the students' expense. The employees took the match, two games to none. As students discovered how much fun the game was, the staff/faculty team soon was playing against as many as 18 students, who rotated after each serve.

The 17,829-square-foot, single-story Construction Masonry Building, designed by Murray Associates Architects, P.C., of Harrisburg, features a large, open lab area and reflects the latest in "green" technologies.

As Penn College's weekly Green Tip feature resumes, the Energy Conservation Subcommittee notes that campus trash receptacles are labeled with "Trash Only" and nearby single-stream recycling containers are marked with all the items that can be placed therein.

Among the new faces during Welcome Weekend was a brand-new, furry one, as Penn College unveiled its Wildcat on Saturday. The outfit was designed and created by Pennsylvania-based company Keystone Mascots, with input from the college. The Wildcat welcomed incoming freshmen, posing for pictures and giving encouragement to the volunteers moving the new students into campus housing.

Penn College's energetic entourage of Resident Assistants, joined by Residence Life staff, paused (briefly) in their busy pre-semester schedule for photos outside Madigan Library on Thursday. Before assuming their 2011-12 responsibilities in Penn College's on-campus housing, the RAs will be among the friendly ambassadors greeting new students and their families during Welcome Weekend move-in.
