Pennsylvania College of Technology student Bradley J. Stroup was recently named recipient of a $3,000 scholarship from the Society of Plastics Engineers Foundation. Stroup, a junior plastics and polymer engineering technology major from Mount Pleasant Mills, was awarded the foundation's Injection Molding Division Scholarship for 2008-09.
Pennsylvania College of Technology golfers have had a lock on conference team championships in which they have participated for five straight seasons. Now, their sights are set on No. 6, but coach Chet Schuman knows it won't come easy. The Wildcats will compete Monday and Tuesday in the Penn State University Athletic Conference championships on the Penn State University Blue Course.
The Collision Department is looking for students and faculty with vehicles in need of minor collision work. Vehicles must be a 1998 model year or newer. Vehicles with small dents are needed; door-skin and quarter-panel jobs also are sought. No rust work will be accepted. The shop rates are $6 an hour for body work and $22 an hour for paint work; there also is a $7 lab fee for each vehicle.
Penn College alumnus Nathaniel L. Baum, who holds degrees in landscape/nursery technology (2003) and technology management (2005), is featured in a recent article in the (Lancaster) Sunday News. The article touts the energy- and cost-saving benefits of a reflective roof coating at the Lititz headquarters of Susquehanna Bancshares Inc., where Baum is facility supervisor.
Pennsylvania College of Technology's dual-enrollment program for high school students Penn College NOW is expanding for the 2008-09 school year to include new programs and new schools. Penn College NOW allows high school students to take Penn College courses at their school taught by Penn College-approved high school teachers.
The four-member executive board of Penn College's Student Government Association joined about 600 students from more than 100 schools at last week's 2008 National Student Government Conference in Bethesda, Md. "This conference was such an awesome experience," SGA President Brian D. Walton said.
