Two Pennsylvania College of Technology students each have been awarded $2,500 scholarships from the Electrical Generating Systems Association. Among the dozen David I. Coren Memorial Scholarship winners for the 2011-12 year are Nathan W. Johnson, of Annville; and Rory K. Kania, of Hanover Township, Luzerne County.

The role of timber management in maintaining Penn's Woods will be discussed by Eric C. Easton, a forestry instructor at Pennsylvania College of Technology, during the Fall 2011 Madigan Library Forum. The free public forum, "Timber Now and Then: The History of Timber Management in Pennsylvania," will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the library's second-floor reading loft.

Combining fun, stress relief and seasonal comfort food, the Inter-Fraternity Council sponsored a "Pumpkin Bust" on the Thompson Professional Development Center lawn Tuesday. Leaking faucets and toilets waste many gallons of treated potable water. Sometimes, we put off those repairs and days turn into months and quarts turns into gallons and gallons. In a rain-saturated year like this one, we forget the value of our drinking water. Much expense and energy goes into collecting, storing, pumping, treating and delivering water to our homes and workplaces.

When Pennsylvania College of Technology men's soccer coach Enrique Castillo began beefing up his team's schedule, he did so with one reason in mind: prepare for the national championships. "We have played against some quality teams to get us ready for nationals," Castillo said.
