Mark Shaffer of Hanover, a graduate of South Western High School , has been named Pennsylvania College of Technology's "Student-Athlete of the Week" for Sept. 25-30. Shaffer, a sophomore majoring in heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology, has compiled a 5-1 pitching record with a 1.20 earned run average in 27 innings of work for the college's baseball team.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has been named a project team member for a $4.9 million National Science Foundation program establishing a National Center of Excellence in Welding Education and Training.

Lawrence W. Emery Jr., a counselor/assistant professor in the Counseling, Career and Disability Services Office at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has received special recognition from the National Board for Certified Counselors. The #25 National Guard/GMAC Chevrolet race car of NASCAR's Casey Mears was displayed Tuesday outside the ATC. School of Transportation Technology officials were told that Mears, who has finished eighth or better in his past three races, drove the car at Richmond and that the vehicle may yet see more action this season.
