WBRE aired a segment Thursday evening about this weekend's "Trash to Treasure" sale in Penn College's Field House. Stef Davis, the NBC affiliate's Williamsport bureau chief, prepared the piece about the yard sale, which will be held from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host "Floreal Stratum," a collection of textile art by Meredith Setser, from May 19 to June 26. Setser's work features large installations primarily composed of handmade and industrial felts printed with traditional processes, such as etching, relief and screen printing.

Pennsylvania College of Technology on Thursday presented Distinguished Staff and Part-Time Teaching Awards. The college also recognized new members of its Quarter Century Club (for 25 years of service) and employees retiring in the 2010-11 academic year. Presented annually, the Distinguished Staff Awards honor the contributions of Penn College employees, who are nominated by their co-workers.

Early childhood education faculty and staff celebrated student achievement on Wednesday, April 27, at the annual Early Childhood Practicum banquet. Students in the School of Hospitality's Introductory Baking course designed and made cupcakes to help Williamsport celebrate the 10th anniversary of its First Friday Art Town events, a monthly exposition and celebration of the arts downtown and in other parts of the city.

Penn State President Graham B. Spanier joined new and recently tenured faculty members from the university in a visit to Pennsylvania College of Technology on Monday, May 9, the first leg of a three-day Road Scholars bus tour.

Six Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball players were named to the Penn State University Athletic Conference 2011 all-conference team, including three on first squad. The teams are voted upon by the conference coaches, based on play and statistics throughout the season. Juniors Garrett Hornung (Emporium), Skylar Gingrich (Lititz) and Harrison Myers (Lebanon) were voted to the first team.

Girls entering ninth and 10th and, now, 11th grades this fall are encouraged to attend Pennsylvania College of Technology's July 10-14 residential program intended to cultivate their interest in math and science.
