Graduation ceremonies were held May 20 for those completing the medical (office) assistant program at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro. Ten individuals completed the nine-month training program, preparing them for employment in medical offices, labs, clinics and human-service agencies.
For the third consecutive year, Pennsylvania College of Technology has been awarded the Penn State University Athletic Conference Chancellor's Cup, given to the college that earns the most points throughout the year. Penn College ended with 69 points, while runner-up Penn State Brandywine had 55.5. During the school year, Wildcat teams posted a combined 117-88 won-loss record (.570 percent).
It was déjà vu all over again for the Pennsylvania College of Technology archery team at the U.S. Intercollegiate Championships in Harrisonburg, Va., over the weekend. Automotive instructors from a number of high schools and regional career and technology centers visited Penn College on Friday for training in the application of waterborne paint. Sponsored by the Central Pennsylvania Tech Prep Consortium, the college and PPG Industries, the daylong event combined classroom lectures and hands-on experience in the College Avenue Labs paint laboratory.
A gallery talk and Meet the Artist Reception on Thursday officially opened "Floreal Stratum," a display of textile art by Meredith Setser, in The Gallery at Penn College. Setser's work features large installations primarily composed of handmade and industrial felts printed with traditional processes, such as etching, relief and screen printing.
A Loyalsock Township High School senior who has been active in community service projects throughout her high school years is the 2011 recipient of the Peggy Madigan Memorial Leadership Scholarship at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
