Ten students graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Technology North Campus Outreach Practical Nursing Program on Thursday, Dec. 18. The ceremony was held at Wellsboro Area High School with a reception for family and friends afterward. The students selected Amanda Wyble, LPN, a staff nurse at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital and alumna of the program, as speaker for the ceremony.

An intermediate-level Microsoft Excel class will be offered in December through Penn College at Towanda in the Central Bradford Progress Authority building. The noncredit class will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, in Suite 1, Room 1 of One Progress Plaza, 1 Elizabeth St., Towanda. The cost is $159.

A basic welding course is being offered this fall by Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The 40-hour noncredit program comprises five eight-hour training sessions. Participants can learn the four basic processes of oxy-fuel, shielded-metal arc, gas metal arc and gas tungsten arc welding.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will provide $50,000 in ShaleNET scholarships to 50 veterans, unemployed and underemployed residents of Tioga County. The scholarships are made possible by Act 13 (impact fee) funding approved recently by the Tioga County Commissioners.
