Pennsylvania College of Technology students eyeing manufacturing-related careers will benefit from a machine entrustment valued at $625,000. The Bihler 4 Slide-NC is a high-tech metal stamping and forming center entrusted to the college for two years by Otto Bihler Maschinenfabrik and Bihler of America Inc.

As part of a PAsmart “Advancing K-12 Computer Science & STEM Education” grant received by Pennsylvania College of Technology from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, 24 middle school educators recently convened on campus for a weeklong hands-on externship.

Maxine Zglinicki needed to complete a senior project. Dr. John H. Bailey wanted a surgical tool redesigned. Zglinicki, of Norristown, devoted a chunk of her final semester at the college to redesigning a tensioning device used with a robot for knee replacement surgery.

Nearly 50 Pennsylvania College of Technology students earned valuable industry certifications related to engineering design in 2022-23, including five students who obtained multiple credentials. All the certifications are the result of passing exams focused on SolidWorks, a prominent computer-aided design and engineering program used in manufacturing industries worldwide.
