Pennsylvania College of Technology has won its second Telly Award of the year, thanks to a video featuring an inspirational student. “Masonry with Nicole” is a bronze winner for motivational online video programming in the 35th annual international competition.

Baking and pastry arts students at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently furnished a lavish “Grand Pastry Buffet” for the college’s scholarship donors and recipients, showcasing two years of education.

Adults 55 and older who want to learn more about using computers for fun and convenience may enroll in a noncredit course at Pennsylvania College of Technology at Wellsboro, located at Wellsboro Area High School. This easy beginner’s class, offered through Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College, introduces the computer for enjoyment purposes.

Edward "Mike" Gray Edward “Mike” Gray, a retired associate professor, machine shop, died May 31 at the age of 90. He taught at both Williamsport Technical Institute and Williamsport Area Community College, Penn College’s predecessors, from September 1959 until retiring in September 1985. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Floral and functional, a "living wall" graces the north side of the Bush Campus Center. Staff/student collaboration also serves as a photo frame for the campus community and visitors. Art and nature combine in a pair of "living walls" being added to the Penn College landscape, stainless steel installations that will also offer a convenient locale for keepsake photos.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will offer focused academic school tours for prospective transfer students June 9-12. Each Transfer Day will include opportunities to speak with academic school staff, tour lab areas specific to academic majors and tour the campus.

ShaleNET, a federally funded training program, recently received the Energy Leadership Award in Workforce Development at an annual awards ceremony sponsored by the Pittsburgh Business Times. ShaleNET was launched in 2010 with a $4.96 million Community Based Job Training grant awarded to Westmoreland County Community College by the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration.

Competing in the U.S. Collegiate Championships at Long Beach, California, from May 16-18, Pennsylvania College of Technology finished fourth as a team and had All-American archers in senior Kelvin Dewalt, of Easton; and juniors Kendel Baier, of Jersey Shore; Matt Cummings, of Mountville; and Nicole Lapinski, of Bloomsburg.
