The fruition of a full semester's project by 11 students in Chef Monica J. Lanczak's Advanced Patisserie Operations class a baking and pastry "trade show" will be held Friday morning in Room B129 of the Hager Lifelong Education Center.
Freshman Adam Smith (Duncannon) and sophomore Caleb Wise (Manheim) of the Pennsylvania College of Technology tennis team earned Penn State University Athletic Conference All-Conference honors Monday. The team is comprised of nine men and women student-athletes from around the conference and is voted on by each institution's coaches. This is the first all-conference honor for both Smith and Wise.
It is said that drinking water soon will replace oil as the most valuable commodity. In our homes, toilet flushing is the No. 1 user of potable water. When you think about it, we don't really need water as pure as drinking water for flushing but other sources (rainwater, "grey water") are not readily available.
The United States Collegiate Athletic Association announced its end-of-year All-American and All-Academic Team award-winners at the 2011 men's and women's soccer national championships this past weekend.Ten members of the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's and women's soccer team made the cut. All-Americans are determined by the USCAA based on athletic performance throughout the season.
Busy, busy, busy. That is the kind of week that Pennsylvania College of Technology sports teams face. Askren, a welding and fabrication engineering technology major, scarcely were "boo-ed" by their landlord for Halloween decorations in a West Fourth Street apartment building. Ornamental horticulture students, staff and faculty took an informative field trip to an EP Henry manufacturing plant in Parker Ford and the Hershey Gardens in Hershey on Thursday. " The EP Henry plant gave the students a look into the manufacturing of the types of pavers and retaining-wall products that they so often design and install in the landscape," horticulture instructor Carl J.
Hughesville Cub Scout Pack 80 recently visited Penn College, addressing various topics including conservation, art, the environment, crafts and science as they continue their strides toward becoming Boy Scouts. "It was an incredible night in both the plastics labs and the construction labs," said Carl J. Shaner, college health services director and a member of the troop's Parent Committee.

An ever-charitable Penn Collegecontingent took part in a number of fundraising events on behalf of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The Horticulture Club, based in the School of Natural Resources Management, raised $200 by selling fresh floral arrangements in pink and white. This was the sixth year for the sale, and adviser Carl J. Bower Jr.
