A gallery talk and artist's reception were held at Penn College on Thursday in conjunction with "Paintings," a series of "hyperrealistic" New York City street scenes by Denis Peterson. The exhibit, at The Gallery at Penn College on the third floor of Madigan Library, will run through April 20. The gallery is open 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

A talent show emceed by Xclusive, whose robotic dancing was a hit during the 2008 season of "America's Got Talent" gave Penn College students the opportunity to share their gifts Thursday night and win a share of the cash prizes. A faculty member in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Health Sciences recently received a doctorate in education. Michael P. Covone, assistant professor of applied health studies, received his doctorate in March from Walden University.
Pennsylvania College of Technology's Children's Learning Center has received a Keystone Stars Merit Award of $49,570 for 2010-11. The center uses the funds for staff development, the purchase of toys and furniture for the children, accreditation-related expenses, special health and nutrition activities, and family events.
Pennsylvania College of Technology's Residence Life Office salutes its most praiseworthy students and programs from the start of the spring semester. Chosen as the Resident Assistant of the Month for January/February was Dauphin Hall's Stephania Karoullas, a dental hygiene major from Landisville. A junior in Pennsylvania College of Technology's four-year aviation maintenance technology major has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Aircraft Electronics Association. Terrence A. Heim, of Malvern, on track to graduate in May 2012 from the college's School of Transportation Technology, will receive the Garmin Scholarship during the 2011-12 academic year.
Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus, located just east of Wellsboro, will host an open house on Monday, April 18, for those interested in nursing as a career. The event, to be offered from 5 to 7 p.m., will feature information sessions about the application process, tuition and financial aid.
A March 31 concert on Pennsylvania College of Technology's main campus in Williamsport will benefit a scholarship fund memorializing a dental hygiene major and student leader. The band Parlance will headline the concert, which is sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ. It will be held at 7 p.m. on the lawn outside the college's Thompson Professional Development Center.
