Pennsylvania College of Technology's Residence Life Office has announced its honorees for August/September. Dauphin Hall's Brent K. Hey was selected as Resident Assistant of the Month and Ashley G. Maietta, an RA in York Hall, was chosen Rising Star of the Month.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the campus community is encouraged to show its support at the Penn College Pink Outs. The women's volleyball team, which held its second annual Pink Out Tie-Dye event Wednesday, didn't expect the crowd that showed up to helpheighten awareness.

To even the most casual television viewer, it's common knowledge that a familiar quiz show allows its contestants to seek outside assistance when in a jam. One player's answer when faced with the pregame stumper, "Who can I turn to?" was as close as a recent Penn College alumnus.

Los Angeles-based reporter Denham Hitchcock and videographer Richard Moran, on assignment for Australia's Channel Nine, interviewed artist Denis Peterson and visitors to his exhibit of hyperrealistic "Paintings" on the third floor of Madigan Library.

The Madigan Library at Pennsylvania College of Technology has been recognized as an "Outstanding Design" in American School & University magazine's 2011 Architectural Portfolio a premier showcase celebrating the best in educational design. The 1,000-seat facility opened in August 2006 and has become a campus destination for students and the community.

Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering a full array of Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010 classes beginning in October. The classes are taught by qualified instructors at a comfortable pace for all levels of adult learners.

Freshman Corey Teeple (Lake Ariel) was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 18. Teeple shot a 74 on a par 72 to place first at the Penn State Mont Alto Invitational at Penn National Golf Course and help the Penn College golf team to the top spot. This is Teeple's first USCAA honor of the year and of his career.

Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering a Getting a Grip on Computers class in October. For those new to computers and the Internet, the noncredit class helps participants become more comfortable with computers, teaching them to create, save, retrieve, modify and resave files utilizing Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

The organization representing full-time faculty, librarians and counselors at Pennsylvania College of Technology is further supporting students at the college by establishing an endowed scholarship fund. The Penn College Education Association Scholarship Fund will generate at least two awards each year, one each for a male student and a female student.

Penn College aviation students Alper B. Tan, Marc T. Kaylor, Jacob R. Tuck, Richard M. "Matt" Hause and Daniel A. Starr along with co-department head Thomas D. Inman provided ground support for air-show aircraft at last weekend's Lycoming County Rotary Clubs Festival 2011. The college was a "co-pilot sponsor" for the event, held at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds in Hughesville.
