A new Penn College video, produced by Educational & Emerging Technologies, provides an introduction to Police Chief David C. Pletz and the many services that he and his team provide.

"Our officers are here to protect students, faculty and staff, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year," the chief notes in the 2:30-minute video. "This responsibility is one that the police cannot accomplish alone. Each community member must do his or her part in preventing crime, accidents and hazards from interfering with college life."

In addition to public safety, the department (headquartered at Penn's Loft, 1154 W. Third St.) issues parking passes, oversees key requests and building access, and arranges police escorts across campus and to off-campus housing.

Other features of note are the outdoor call boxes for immediate police response, anonymous crime reporting through the online "Silent Witness" form, and the PCT Alerts messaging system for campuswide emergencies.
