A $25,000 donation from the Chicago SPE Educational Foundation and the Chicago Section of SPE will endow the Patsy and Glenn L. Beall Chicago SPE Scholarship for plastics students at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The Chicago SPE Educational Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing and improving the quality of plastics education in schools. It offers scholarships to deserving students studying in the field of plastics, as well as matching grants to educators at schools offering programs in plastics technology and associated fields.
The Chicago Section of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE-CS) is the Chicagoland community of plastics engineers and professionals from large and small companies, universities, government facilities, and technology providers, primarily in Northern Illinois. It is one of the most populous sections of the society.
Glenn Beall is a member of the Plastics Hall of Fame and founder and president of Glenn Beall Plastics Ltd., Libertyville, Illinois. He is an engineer, consultant, educator and editor who played a key role in the advancement of plastics design. He has been extremely active in many plastics engineering associations throughout his career. In 1985, Beall was made a Fellow of SPE; he was elected a distinguished member in 1990. In 1995, SPE named its International Product Design Award in his honor. His late wife, Patsy, was a full partner in their business and all of their other industry activities. They were married for 61 years.
First preference for the Patsy and Glenn L. Beall Chicago SPE Scholarship will be given to Penn College students who are residents of Illinois, female, enrolled in their junior or senior year of the plastics & polymer engineering technology bachelor’s degree or sophomore year of the plastics & polymer technology associate degree, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Second preference will be given to Penn College students who are female, enrolled in their junior or senior year of the plastics & polymer engineering technology bachelor’s degree or sophomore year of the plastics & polymer technology associate degree, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Third preference will be given to Penn College students who are enrolled in their junior or senior year of the plastics & polymer engineering technology bachelor’s degree or sophomore year of the plastics & polymer technology associate degree, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Awards from Patsy and Glenn L. Beall Chicago SPE Scholarship are renewable if the recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
