Students, faculty member attend avionics convention

The panel includes a special bracket for snap-in of the i-Pad(s), linking to a special interface "black box" that is connected to aircraft systems.Two aviation maintenance technology students and a faculty member attended last month's 65th annual Aircraft Electronics Association Convention and Trade Show in New Orleans – the largest gathering of general aviation avionics manufacturers, distributors and government-certified repair stations in the world. Wesley Alexander Lippincott, of Bedford, and Teagan M. Lowe, of Richmond, Vermont, joined Thomas D. Inman, associate professor of aviation, for the four-day event at the city's Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.



    The students attended training sessions and took the test for National Center for Aircraft Technician Training/ASTM International Aircraft Electronics Technician certification. They also met President Mike Adamson, who encouraged them to apply for AEA scholarships, and Ric Peri, the association's vice president of government and industry affairs, whose voice is familiar to them from the AEA training that students take while at Penn College.

    Inman gave a presentation on "Troubleshooting Antennas and Transmission Lines" to a standing-room-only crowd, and attended training sessions on autoflight, in-flight connectivity and more.
