Penn College launches search for new provost

Pennsylvania College of Technology has begun a national search for a new vice president for academic affairs and provost – the highest-ranking academic officer at the institution – to succeed Michael J. Reed, who is set to become the college’s new president on July 1.
Reed’s appointment as president – succeeding President Davie Jane Gilmour, who announced that she will retire on June 30 after leading the institution for 24 years – was approved by the Penn College Board of Directors on Jan. 5.
The same executive search firm that coordinated Penn College’s presidential search process, Storbeck Search, has been chosen to coordinate the provost search.
Based in Media, Storbeck Search is part of Diversified Search Group. In recent years, the firm has assisted with similar searches for multiple Penn State campuses, the University of Pittsburgh, Temple University, Franklin & Marshall College, Susquehanna University and Swarthmore College, among others.
A timeline has been established with the goal of announcing the selection of the new provost by June 1. The college has appointed a Provost Search Committee, with representation from faculty and administration.
Faculty members are: David S. Richards, professor, physics; Tina Marie Kline, associate professor, nursing programs; Craig A. Miller, associate professor, history/political science; Tammy M. Rich, associate professor, business administration; James N. Colton II, assistant professor, welding; Naim N. Jabbour, assistant professor, architectural technology; Alicia L. McNett, assistant professor, computer information technology; and Bridget E. Motel, instructor, dental hygiene.
Administration members are: Hillary E. Hofstrom, vice president for human resources; Loni N. Kline, vice president for college relations/chief philanthropy officer; Patrick Marty, chief of staff; Joanna K. Flynn, dean of curriculum and instruction; Anthony J. Pace, dean of academic operations; Sandra L. Richmond, dean of nursing and health sciences; and Justin W. Beishline, assistant dean of diesel technology and natural resources.
The vice president for academic affairs and provost leads innovative strategic planning for Academic Affairs, promotes an inclusive campus culture and actively engages with faculty, staff, and industry and community leaders.
The provost reports directly to the college president and serves as a member of President’s Council. The individual will work closely with all campus divisions to meet and advance the institution’s mission, including Enrollment Management, College Relations, Workforce Development, Educational & Emerging Technologies, Financial Operations, Human Resources, Student Affairs, and Public Relations & Marketing.
