Guest readers celebrate child care center's vital mission
In return, children from the Birds Nest presented Gilmour with a thank-you card that looked just like the owls they had made in class.
The Bears Bunch also had a guest reader as part of the celebration. Hillary E. Hofstrom, the college’s vice president for human resources, and a past parent of the center, read the book “Duncan and Delores.”
The celebration week is sponsored by the National Coalition for Campus Children’s Centers, which states child care centers allow parents to attend class, labs and internships knowing their children are in a safe, nurturing and educational environment. They make campus communities a more fun place to be; are an essential part of campus life; stand united as one to advocate for young children and their families; offer stability and continuity for families of faculty, staff and students; are shaping a better, brighter future for all by nurturing and educating young children; and are where best practices in early care and education are developed.
