The Medical Imaging Club has been reactivated this semester and is off to a good start after its first meeting attracted 53 radiography and pre-radiography students. The group elected officers and planned a variety of fun learning activities.

One of those is a “Case of the Week” contest that invites anyone on campus to participate. Organizers post an X-ray image on the club’s bulletin board, in the Advanced Technology & Health Sciences Center’s second-floor, west-wing hallway, across from Room W232. All are invited to play along by identifying the body part and what is exceptional about the image.

Reactivated Medical Imaging Club initiates campuswide "Case of the Week" contest.“There are forms to complete to make your guess,” explained Christine L. Eckenrod, director of radiography, who co-advises the club with Georgia T. Grey, clinical director of radiography. “It could be a technical error, positioning error, pathology, anomaly, etc.”

In some weeks, a winner will be drawn from among the correct answers, and a small prize will be awarded.

“We invite all students to stop by and check it out,” Eckenrod said.

The club elected the following officers for 2019-20:

  • President Sarah R. Vaskas, of Wyalusing

  • Vice President Alyssa G. Gentile, of Fairport, N.Y.

  • Secretary Adrienne C. Clark, of Martinsburg

  • Historian Nikki L. Welsh, of Quakertown

  • Treasurer Leah M. Hesidence, of Karns City
