Andrew A. Smith Chosen as 'Student of the Month' at Penn College

Andrew A. Smith, an aviation maintenance technician student from Philadelphia, has been chosen as the September “Student of the Month” at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Smith, characterized by his nominator as "an excellent role model to students," is the business coordinator for the Wildcat Events Board and philanthropy chair for the Sigma Pi fraternity at the college.



Andrew A. Smith"He joined two very involved organizations his first year at Penn College and has dedicated time and efforts to become an essential member of both," the nomination continues. "He has volunteered many hours and fundraised for a variety of causes." Among those activities, Smith has built houses for Habitat for Humanity, walked dogs for the local SPCA shelter, raised money for Penn College Benefiting THON, set up community dinners at a local church and planned an informational week around organ donation for Donate a Life.

"This October," his nominator added, "he plans to dedicate time and efforts to Breast Cancer Awareness, and this includes having a Sigma Pi team for a benefit walk."

Student of the Month recognition is bestowed by the college’s Student Government Association numerous times each academic year based on nominees’ commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement.
