Penn College club members Eric M. Russell, Carlos A. Ramos-Sonera, Alton J. "A.J." Hinson, John B. Preine, Michael J. Fonti and Kody R. Dibble joined those from six other East Coast colleges for multiple training sessions. Representatives from Bucknell University, Salve Regina University (Rhode Island), Drexel University, Lycoming College, the University of Pittsburgh, and the College of William and Mary (Virginia) endured six hours of karate training and still had enough energy to take part in the goodwill tournament on Sunday. In that tournament, Penn College students showed the benefits of their hard work. In team kata (forms), Russell, Ramos-Sonera and Hinson placed third overall. In individual events, Russell placed second in kumite (sparring) and Ramos-Sonera placed second in kata. Hinson and Preine each placed third in kumite in their respective divisions. The next event for the club will be the season's final ECCKU camp in Virginia in April.
