College's Honor Society Chapters Induct 128 Students

Pennsylvania College of Technology recently held induction ceremonies, welcoming 128 high-achieving students into its honor society chapters for two- and four-year students. Paul L. Starkey, vice president for academic affairs/provost, and Tom Gregory, associate vice president for instruction, offered remarks at both proceedings.
Alpha Chi
Fifty-six new members were accepted into the Pennsylvania Xi Chapter of Alpha Chi, which is open to all bachelor-degree majors and restricted to the top 10 percent of Penn College’s junior and senior classes. Gerald “Chip” D. Baumgardner, associate professor of business administration/management, and Walter J. Shultz Jr., director of the Office of Instructional Technology, did the honors during a ceremony in the Thompson Professional Development Center.

Phi Theta Kappa
Seventy-two students were admitted into the college’s Beta Epsilon Upsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for students in associate-degree majors. Each semester, the chapter extends membership invitations to two-year students who have completed at least 12 hours of coursework in which they have a GPA of 3.5.
The guest speaker was Nathaniel Glick, PTK's Pennsylvania state president. Advisers Laurie K. Kiss, mathematics instructor, and Joseph Loehr, associate professor of mass media communication/English-composition, presided over the induction in the Klump Academic Center.
