Pennsylvania College of Technology’s North Campus, operating from a new location in Wellsboro, will present the first series in its Quick Start Leadership Program beginning April 18.

High-performing individuals are often tapped for leadership roles with little or no training in effective leadership. The Quick Start Leadership Program, offered through Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College, assists participants in launching their leadership careers and facilitates leadership teams by presenting common approaches to issues leaders may face.

The noncredit program consists of two five-hour sessions of training. Topics include transitioning into your new leadership role, understanding and developing your leadership style, communicating critical job information, and performing legally and ethically.

The sessions will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, and Thursday, April 25, at the Wellsboro Area School District Administration Building conference room. In January, the North Campus moved its programming to spaces in Wellsboro Area High School and the adjacent Administration Building. The Quick Start Leadership Program can also be customized and delivered at employer locations.

Program instructor Bud Rutherford is an industrial-technology instructor for manufacturing, distribution and the natural gas industry with a proven record of working with all levels of management and production-floor employees. Using his experience, Rutherford helps participants develop leadership skills to achieve their employers’ goals in the workplace.

Rutherford has developed and delivered training in the areas of customer service, team-building, fundamentals of manufacturing, leadership and safety to multiple employee levels in many organizations. His comfortable facilitation style encourages participation from participants, and his energy keeps the classroom engaged.
