The owner-operators of J & M Construction Specialty Inc., of Williamsport, have created a scholarship fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Robert and Marcia Shearer recently established the Shearer Family Scholarship. The endowed scholarship will be available to any full-time student who resides in Pennsylvania and is enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program in the School of Construction and Design Technologies at Penn College. Initial awards will be $1,000 annually.

“Marcia and I have always been impressed by the quality of the education Penn College provides,” Robert Shearer said. “The experience of the faculty and the modern laboratory facilities provide an excellent learning environment for the students.”

“We’ve been fortunate to build a successful business in the Williamsport community, and this is one way that we can give back to that community while also supporting the industry in which we do business,” added Marcia Shearer.

“We’re extremely grateful to Bob and Marcia for their generosity,” said Robb Dietrich, executive director of the Penn College Foundation. “They have provided scholarship support for Penn College students for the past several years; now, by endowing this scholarship, that support will be a permanent source of financial aid helping future generations of students.”
