For the fourth consecutive year, Pennsylvania College of Technology has been included on the list of Military Friendly Schools compiled by G.I. Jobs magazine.

The designation is reserved for the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that do the most to “embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus," according to the publication.

The 1,739 institutions on the 2013 Military Friendly Schools list are leaders in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience.

“The faculty and staff here at Penn College believe it is a privilege and honor to assist our military students in their educational endeavors. We strive to ensure that those who serve receive all the educational military benefits they are entitled to receive,” said Dennis L. Correll, associate dean for admissions and financial aid. “It is a campuswide commitment to provide services to all veterans – not just in the classroom, but in all offices on campus.”

Penn College again deemed "Military Friendly School"A total of 332 veteran students are enrolled at Penn College for the Fall 2012 semester, roughly the same number as a year ago. Some servicemen and women who originally intended to return this academic year are stationed in Afghanistan; additional National Guard personnel recently withdrew pending deployment to the Middle East.

The Military Friendly Schools list was compiled through research and a survey of more than 12,000 Veterans Administration-approved schools nationwide. Methodology, criteria and weighting for the list were developed with the assistance of an Academic Advisory Board consisting of educators from schools across the country.

“Inclusion on the 2013 list … shows Penn College's commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, director for G.I. Jobs and vice president at Victory Media. “As interest in education grows, we’re thrilled to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools."

G.I.Jobs is published by Victory Media, a veteran-owned business headquartered in Pittsburgh. The company also publishes The Guide to Military Friendly Schools, Military Spouse and Vetrepreneur magazines and annually rates the nation’s “Military Friendly Employers,” “Military Spouse Friendly Employers” and “Best Corporations for Veteran-Owned Businesses.”
