Penn College Golfers Off to Rough Start

After Monday's first round in the Penn State University Athletic Conference/United States Collegiate Athletic Association championships, Penn College was in ninth place, 44 strokes off the pace of Rochester College in the USCAA portion of the event, and forth in the PSUAC tourney, 20 strokes behind Penn State Mont Alto. Individually overall for Penn College, Alex Howe, of Lake Ariel,was tied for 11th with a 77, five strokes behind leaders Kris Bartling, of Rochester College, and Tommy Stirling, of Southern Maine Community College. Wildcat Corey Teeple, of Lake Ariel, was tied for 57th after an opening-round 88 and Dan Kramer, of Avon, Conn.,was tied for 67th with a 90. Also for the Wildcats, Kurt Linhart, of Zionsville, shot a 91; Joe Peters, of Harrisburg, shot a 93; and Nick Krupka, of Allentown,shot a 96. In PSUAC action, Howe was second after the first day, two strokes behind Alex Baker, of Penn State New Kensington. Action concludes Tuesday at the Penn State Blue Course.
