Welding Student Receives Industry-Sponsored Scholarship

Ryan P. McCollumPennsylvania College of Technology student Ryan P. McCollum, of Warrington, received a national scholarship from the American Welding Society Foundation for the 2010-11 academic year.

McCollum, who is pursuing a bachelor's degree in welding and fabrication engineering technology, was selected to receive the Past Presidents Scholarship. The $2,500 annual award was established by contributions from individuals who have served as AWS president and is supplemented by contributions from the AWS to recognize the years of dedication given by those who have served as president.

Among McCollum's industry and community involvement, he has taken part in several welding competitions, including the AWS Lehigh Valley Section's student welding competition and SkillsUSA in 2008, and the AWS York Section's student welding competition in 2010. He has also participated in Relay for Life and Adopt-A-Highway.
