'Cat TalesCross-CountryPenn College's men's and women's teams finished first in their respective divisions in an invitational at Penn State Mont Alto. Wildcat Mark Cordeiro (Canton) topped the men's field by covering the 5.37-mile distance in 31:45. Jeff Faherty (Sussex, N.J.) was second in 32:28, Seth Beckman (Linden) fifth in 33:53, Eric Flanagan (Fairfax, Va.) sixth in 34:09 and Corvin Oberholtzer (Wellsboro) ninth in 34:15. Penn College topped the field with 23 points. Following were Penn State Scranton 56, College of Philadelphia 75, Penn State Schuylkill 114, Thaddeus Stevens 119, Penn State DuBois 165 and Penn State Mont Alto 166. For the Wildcat women, Tamara Pavlov (Lewisburg) finished second overall with a time of 20:43 over the 3-mile distance, Hollie Schuster (Jersey Shore) was third in 20:53, Abigail Schuler (Waynesboro) fourth in 21:08 and Justine Kline (Middleburg) seventh in 21:15. In women's team scoring, Penn College had 32 points; Penn State Scranton, 37; and College of Philadelphia, 58.

GolfPenn College finished third at the Penn State Mont Alto Invitational. Host Penn State Mont Alto scored a 306, followed byPenn StateNew Kensington with 320; Penn College, 323; Penn State Shenango, 351; and Penn State Fayette, 361. Individually, freshman Dan Krammer (Burlington, Conn.) placed fifth overall with a 79, while Eric Schall (Jersey Shore) fired an 80, Craig Flint (Port Allegany) an 81, and Dean Bell (Schwenksville) an 83.

Men's SoccerAt Washington Adventist University (formerly Columbia Union College), Coleby Frye (York), Morris Sayon (Upper Darby) and Nick Grasso (New Columbia) scored goals in a 3-2 win. Brendan Muth (Macungie) had two assists.

The Wildcats dominated a midweek match against Penn State Scranton, winning 10-0 as they remained unbeaten in the Penn State University Athletic Conference. Frye had two goals, and Sayon, Matt Heckler (Loganton) and Ben Shade (Fleetwood) each scored a goal and added an assist.

Women's SoccerOn the road at Washington Adventist University (formerly Columbia Union College), Katie Moltz (Pottstown) scored the game-winner in the 65th minute as Penn College pulled out a 2-1 win to remain unbeaten with a 4-0 record. Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) also scored a goal for the Wildcats and Julliette Yeager (Hamburg) had two assists. On Monday, the Wildcats host Lycoming College.

Coed Tennis Following an "off" week due to weather postponements, the Wildcats returned to action against Penn State York and posted a 6-3 win, although Shane Burridge (Ephrata) saw his personal 15-match win streak come to an end at the No. 1 men's singles position. Double winners for Penn College during the match were Rachel Emmons (Washington, N.J.) and Danielle Trout (Harrisburg) in both women's singles and doubles.

Women's Volleyball During a 1-2 week, Penn College lost to Penn State Mont Alto, 15-25, 18-25, 16-25, on Tuesday; and lost to Penn State Fayette, 18-25, 16-25, 15-25, and beat Penn State Scranton, 25-2, 25-6, 25-2, on Friday. In the loss to Penn StateMont Alto, Alyssa Covas (Pottsville) had three blocks and eight kills. On Saturday, the Wildcats compete in a tournament at Lycoming College.
