Liberty Excavators Establishes Scholarship Fund at Penn College

A Camp Hill firm has established an endowed scholarship fund targeting students in the heavy construction equipment technology, surveying technology and civil engineering technology majors at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Liberty Excavators Inc. recently presented a check for $25,000 to fully endow the Liberty Excavators Inc. Fund at Penn College. The college will begin making awards from the scholarship fund for the Spring 2009 semester.

Preference for the awards will be given to employees of Liberty Excavators and/or their immediate family members, or other students who are residents of Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Perry, Snyder or York counties.

Successful applicants must be enrolled full time in the second year of Penn College's civil engineering technology bachelor degree major or one of Penn College's associate-degree majors in civil engineering technology, surveying technology, heavy construction equipment technology: operator emphasis, or heavy construction equipment technology: technician emphasis.

"We are pleased to be able to participate in the Penn College Scholarship fund," said Liberty Excavators Inc. President Rick Evans. "With the success we have experienced in the past, we see that our continuing relationship will provide opportunities for both the students of Penn College and Liberty Excavators in the future."

Debra M. Miller, Penn College's director of corporate relations, said the new scholarship is the latest component of an ongoing relationship between Liberty Excavators and Penn College.

"Liberty Excavators has established a strong relationship with Penn College through participation in our Career Expos, hiring students for summer internships and hiring our graduates for full-time employment," Miller said. "We especially appreciate that the company has now established a perpetual scholarship fund to assist students with the cost of their education."
