Penn College Management Professor Re-Elected as Board Chairman

Terry A. GirdonTerry A. Girdon, head of the business administration department at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been elected to a third term as chair of the Board of Commissioners of the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education.

The re-election of Girdon, a professor of business administration/management in the college's School of Business and Computer Technologies, occurred during the IACBE's annual conference in Newport Beach, Calif., April 1-4. The Board of Commissioners is the body responsible for setting accreditation expectations and reviewing the self-study and site-visit reports for purposes of granting accreditation.

During the conference, Girdon led a presentation/workshop on "Evaluator Training" designed to prepare selected individuals to conduct the two-day campus site visits that are such an integral part of the accreditation process.

IACBE is one of three business-degree accrediting bodies for colleges and universities in the United States and throughout the world. It has more than 245 member institutions and is the fastest-growing business-accrediting body in the world, with branch locations in Geneva, Switzerland; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Mangilao, Guam.

All of the business and accounting degree programs at Penn College have been fully accredited by the IACBE since 1998.

A former dean of the School of Business and Computer Technologies, Girdon earned a doctorate from Rutgers University. He also holds master's degrees from St. Lawrence and Boston universities and a bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware.
