Michael A. Hohl, vice president and general manager of Lyons and Hohl Inc., and Debra M. Miller, director of corporate relations for Pennsylvania College of Technology.A leading site contracting and paving firm in Chester County has established a scholarship fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

The fund established by Lyons and Hohl Inc. focuses on students in Penn College's heavy construction equipment technology: operator emphasis major.

The Lyons and Hohl Scholarship will generate an annual award of $2,000 for a student enrolled full time in the second year of that major, who has a minimum grade-point average of 2.5 and who is from Berks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster or Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania.

Michael A. Hohl, vice president and general manager, said the new scholarship fund is an opportunity to build stronger ties with Penn College and to recruit students.

"The Lyons and Hohl team of professionals is dedicated to its clients and to economic growth in Southeastern Pennsylvania communities," said Hohl. "This scholarship is an investment in the future of today's youth as they endeavor to use their talents in the construction industry."

Hohl notes that his company actively recruits Penn College students, and recognizes the quality of the education they receive.

"Penn College appreciates greatly the interest Lyons and Hohl Inc. is showing in our students," said Debra M. Miller, director of corporate relations at Penn College. "This new scholarship will provide significant financial assistance to the recipients, helping the students succeed and also benefiting the heavy equipment industry."

In addition to the new scholarship fund at Penn College, Lyons and Hohl Inc. funds its own loan/scholarship program, the Greg Lyons Memorial Scholarship, which provides $3,000 per year to a student from the Honey Brook area attending the heavy construction equipment technology: operator emphasis major at Penn College. The loan is forgiven after the completion of one year of employment at Lyons and Hohl Inc.
