Aviation Students Recruited by Industry Visitors

On Monday, Duncan Aviation sent six managers from its headquarters in Lincoln, Neb., and its major service center in Battle Creek, Mich., to Penn College's Lumley Aviation Center to recruit students for internships and full-time job openings at each location. Dan Arrick, manager, engine; Joe Huffman Jr., human resources generalist; Patrick Mapes, assistant manager, avionics; Matt Nelson, manager, satellite operations; Jeff Schipper, assistant manager, airframe; and Meredith Warnicke, assistant manager, human resources, spent the day with aviation students. The group was scheduled to arrive in the Duncan Aviation Learjet at 9 a.m., but the Williamsport Regional Airport was closed due to fog at the time. They diverted to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport, rented a van, and drove to the Montoursville facility. Once the weather cleared, the flight crew brought the aircraft to the Aviation Center. Activities for the day included tours of the center for the Duncan representatives, a presentation to students, airplane tours for aviation students, and an informal meet-and-greet session. "As a recruiter ... for several years, I have been to a number of schools. Penn College is unquestionably the nicest facility I have visited," Huffman said. "The quality of the facility goes beyond just the amount of money spent. It is reflected in the upkeep, as well. Everything was clean and neat and in its place.
