Academic Support Services announces the newest addition toits repertoire of services:online tutoring.

If you often have wished for a way to receive tutoring without leaving your room, would rather communicate online than in person, or just have had a late-night, last-minute question when tutoring is not available, then you are in luck!

Every Penn College student now has access to a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week tutoring service called SMARTHINKING. SMARTHINKING provides tutorial support in the following areas: accounting, biology, chemistry, economics, math (basic through calculus II), physics, Spanish, statistics and writing.

Access to this service is available here from any computer with an Internet connection. Students can access their accounts by entering their Penn College e-mail address as their userID and Penn CollegeID number as their password. (These accounts already have been established.)

Smarthinking is a very user-friendly service that offers two tutoring options.

First, students have the option to talk "live" (synchronously) with a tutor in an immediate interactive tutoring format. Students also are able to use a "delayed" (asynchronous) format in which they can submit a piece of writing (up to seven pages) or ask a question and wait for a response. Responses and papers are returned within 24 hours.

Academic Support Services will offer demonstration workshopsat noon and 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, in ACC, Room 156. All students are welcome to attendone of the twoworkshopsto learn more about using the service.
